Have you ever gone to a small shop or restaurant and went to pay for your purchase only to realize they won’t take your credit card? Sometimes you’re lucky enough to carry another one, but other times you are forced to run to a nearby ATM just to take out cash. It’s a real inconvenience and a hassle. What if you really needed to put it on your American Express because it had the lowest balance or because you’re saving up points for a future purchase?
Years ago many of us came to expect that Discover and American Express cards weren’t taken at some businesses. But more people than ever carry one or both of those credit cards. While you might not be willing to take on extra charges for business credit card processing, you have to realize that you can be losing many potential customers. A lot of stores will place a sign on the door informing customers which credit cards they take. If they don’t list mine, I will often second guess going into the store. What’s the point if I don’t have enough cash on me?
Fewer people carry cash on them. Credit cards are simply the wave of the future and you need to open yourself up to a large pool of clients with business credit card processing.
