Carefully Processing Credit Cards
I once worked for a fairly shady(by which I mean seemingly criminal) restaurant manager. I can not tell you how many complaints we received from people who claimed their credit cards had been improperly charged. It turned my stomach because while my boss would generally relent and allow me to give these folks refunds with little argument I feared many of these problems were falling through the cracks. I know that I rarely look over my billing statements point for point.
Business credit card processing is important for most businesses, especially as carrying around cash becomes less and less of a norm. So, when you are a business offering your goods and services to the public it is important to operate in a way that leads folks to trust you with their credit cards and debit cards. To do anything less than perfect can be very bad for all parties involved. Lucky for me I got out of that bad situation before it came to harm me or my reputation but the danger was always there. Soon after my departure an equipment leasing company came and took all of the credit card processing machines away from my former employer. I’m glad they did, people work hard and to take something that doesn’t belong to you, especially from the very people keeping your business alive, is just sickening.
